It’s been a year here at Five and Dime Comics. That’s right, we’ve been doing this a whole year. Rob and I see success a little differently. He looks at it incrementally. I look at it retrospectively.

Rob is happy we made it a year, but he’s happy after every strip. He sees every little advancement as a cause to celebrate. It’s not a bad thing. That attitude is what makes working with Rob fun. It’s in his personality to appreciate every step of the process. It’s my personality to continually push on, and not be satisfied.

However, I love birthdays and anniversaries. Maybe it’s fate that Five and Dime would have a December birthday. A birthday that is close to my actual birthday on the 14th. As I face turning 30, it’s nice to know I put my heart and soul into something. It gives me something to reflect on this birthday. I like looking back at the past. I see the successes and failures, and can enjoy the road I’ve walked. I told myself, “If we make it a year, posting consistently, I will be happy.” I am very happy. We’ve had hiccups and growing pains, but the strips have been up. I can look back on this past year and finally allow myself a moment to enjoy the strip.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh.

Okay moment over. Now all we have to do is hit our 5-year mark and I’ll allow myself another moment. Thanks for reading this past year. Now we move on to those, “terrible twos”.
