You’d be surprised how often I’m told, “I used to/still have The Death of Superman comic.” Comics are more prevalent than we geeks would like to admit. Older generations used to collect them. Military members use them for a quick read. Kids still get into them. The addition of comic-based movies has made comics more popular than ever.

The comic geek still makes up a majority of comic buyers. Comics are a level of geekdom that doesn’t fluctuate much. It’s a step down from video games because not everyone likes comics, but many people have picked up one or two for a quick read. My wife is not a comic geek, but even she has read and enjoyed Watchmen and Transmetro.

I love comics. I am a super mega ultra fanatical comic geek. This is the last level that I inhabit. I know others who are further down the hierarchy (Rob), but this is where I stop. Comics are enough for me. I’m such a comic geek that I spent $1,000 rebuilding my collection after I spent seven months in Iraq. It’s still the best grand I’ve ever spent.
