Today’s punch line was something Rob said to me in college. I asked him if he had dance magic. He replied, “Oh yeah. I’ve got dance magic, but I only dabble in the jump.” He was so deadpan with his delivery. I looked at him and lost it. We still laugh when we talk about it.
I don’t often use content from real life. I don’t want the Zack and Flash to tell “inside jokes.” This is one of the few things from our lives that can translate into being funny for others. Rob also helped sell it by how funny Sloth looks in the last panel.
It will always be a great line. I’m glad I found a way to work it into a strip.
