As for the game itself, I really enjoyed it. I’m a completionist by nature. I like games where I have to work at getting everything in the game. Sometimes it can get tedious, but I like the challenge. I think the “Final Fantasy” games gave me Video Game Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (VGOCD) and I still suffer from it. Games like “Assassin’s Creed,” where every object collected has a purpose get their hooks in me and don’t let go. I have to get everything or I feel haven’t “beaten” the game. I still have some work to do with “Assassin’s Creed 2,” but it will be done soon enough.
I borrowed “Assassin’s Creed 2” from Rob. Now I’m hoping our good friend Greg will be kind enough to let me borrow “Assassin’s Creed 2: Brotherhood” so I can kill another day with a retractable blade to the throat.
It’s been a year here at Five and Dime Comics. That’s right, we’ve been doing this a whole year. Rob and I see success a little differently. He looks at it incrementally. I look at it retrospectively.
Rob is happy we made it a year, but he’s happy after every strip. He sees every little advancement as a cause to celebrate. It’s not a bad thing. That attitude is what makes working with Rob fun. It’s in his personality to appreciate every step of the process. It’s my personality to continually push on, and not be satisfied.
However, I love birthdays and anniversaries. Maybe it’s fate that Five and Dime would have a December birthday. A birthday that is close to my actual birthday on the 14th. As I face turning 30, it’s nice to know I put my heart and soul into something. It gives me something to reflect on this birthday. I like looking back at the past. I see the successes and failures, and can enjoy the road I’ve walked. I told myself, “If we make it a year, posting consistently, I will be happy.” I am very happy. We’ve had hiccups and growing pains, but the strips have been up. I can look back on this past year and finally allow myself a moment to enjoy the strip.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh.
Okay moment over. Now all we have to do is hit our 5-year mark and I’ll allow myself another moment. Thanks for reading this past year. Now we move on to those, “terrible twos”.
This past Thursday my wife and I went to a concert. I’m not much of a concert person. Honestly, I’m not really much of a music person. I like things quiet. However, this was a MC Chris concert. It was in Lawrence Kansas. The performers were Adam Warrock, Random a.k.a. Mega Ran, MC Lars, and MC Chris. It was one of the best concert experiences I’ve ever had. The devotion to the fans was impressive. Most of the artists were manning their own merchandise tables. I got to meet all of the artists. There is something important to being faithful to your fans. It’s easy to see why big time stars can ignore fans, because they don’t really need you as an individual. If you don’t buy their CD they’ll only sell 999,999 instead of a million. However, when you are depending on web sales and merchandise sales to pay your wage, you need to keep your fans. Overall it’s just good customer service. The music was great, the other fans were great. If they are coming to a town near you be sure to check them out.
That being said, thanks for reading.
We’re a little late this evening. Had some unexpected delays, but better late than never. My wife is often embarrassed by the things I say in front of her boss. I tend to blurt out awkward things to people in authority. I don’t have that mysterious thing called tact. At any rate I try to avoid opening my big mouth too much. I’ve never shown up in her office dressed like Burt from Mary Poppins, but mostly because I can’t afford the rig.
Just some notes to share:
1. What a Waste Wednesday is up. Go check it out.
2. Rob will be at Granitecon this Sunday.
3. If you like our site, please spread the word. We want to get the word to the people in the streets. Can ya dig it?
I’m going to bed now. Goodnight all.
