I am almost done. I could have finished it much earlier today, but these games crank up my gaming OCD. I have to get everything. I have to do every quest and upgrade everything, and that takes time. Time I am short on. Assassin’s Creed 3 is coming out in a few months, and I want to complete Brotherhood and Revelations before it comes out. Again, not just beat the game, but make the game say “uncle.”
It takes a certain sort of game to make me feel like I need to do everything. In the past it was reserved to Final Fantasy games. As games have grown in complexity, I find that I am really enjoying the development of the sandbox games: InFamous, Assassin’s Creed, Arkham Asylum, etc. They continue to get better, and October will be here before I know it. I hope I’m caught up by then.
There has been a bit of a ruckus over MC Chris lately. He kicked a person out of his show because of a tweet. Apparently he’s done it before and he got tore up on the interwebs over it. People came out of the woodwork to vilify him. I don’t know if I think he went too far or was justified. I know I enjoyed his show when we went and watched him. I will still listen to his music.
The whole incident made me think about our geek culture, about how we strive to build a relationship with our fans. It’s a double-edged sword. You make a family, and like a family, things get personal as issues arise. The positive side is that you have a stronger bond, a bond that revolves around a mutual love of all things geek.
We’re focused on these things, especially now. We’re trying to grow Five and Dime Comics because we’re having a blast doing it and we want to put a little humor into everyone’s day. It’s not always easy. Building our fan base has been fairly slow and time-consuming, but it’s worth it.. We will have fans that are supportive and will be with us even if we’re down.
We hope you continue to tell people you know about us and that word of us can spread. We want to reach a point where we get people coming up to us at cons and visiting with us just to hang out and get their views about our comic. Heck, we’ll talk about ANY comic. We’re not picky. We love the geek culture and hope to be a big part of it. Being in the geek family is great, and the more the merrier.
